Can ICT supported learning help to combat poverty and social exclusion?

We are increasingly migrating into cyberspace and the ICT are part of our everyday life. However, it is necessary to promote further digital equity in order to enhance social inclusion in/through this migrating process. We invite you to learn from successful practice examples collected in the eLearning Papers entitled "Technology Enhanced Learning against social exclusion". This issue aims to contribute to the broad discussion on poverty and social exclusion by presenting some advantages and opportunities afforded by Technology Enhanced Learning for social inclusion. The authors of the papers explain how to build more inclusive ICT through innovative ideas. Further on, a list of key issues and recommendations on "Social media, social inclusion and language learning" were released in July 2010.

For the readers particularly interested in language learning we can recommend the webinar "Language resources and web 2.0: latest hype or new perspectives?" organized on 1^st October 2010. The purpose of this webinar was to debate on the challenges (and controversies) of social media and their role in the development of language resources and in empowering language learning communities.
