On 23 November, the European Commission has introduced its proposal for the new programme "Erasmus for All". This programme will integrate all the current EU and international schemes for education, training, youth and sport, replacing seven existing programmes with one. The Commission has already announced an increased budget of 19 billion EUR for the programme period 2014-2020. The new programme will be grouped into three horizontal key actions: 1. Learning mobility of individuals, 2. Cooperation, 3. Policy reform.
For the purpose of communication, the brand name will be associated with the main education sectors as follows: ‘Erasmus Higher Education’, associated with all types of higher education in Europe and internationally; ‘Erasmus Training’, associated with vocational education and training as well as adult learning; ‘Erasmus Schools’, associated with school education; and ‘Erasmus Youth Participation’, associated with non-formal learning among young people.

This Eurobarometer survey has collected the opinion of European citizens about vocational education and training (VET) in 2011 to help inform the work of the European Commission before starting to implement the new VET strategy. In the course of the survey, 26.840 European citizens were interviewed. It gathered people’s impression on VET’s potential benefits within the EU and it evaluated the impact of VET on society and on the economy.

No stigma is attached to vocational training as an alternative to academic studies, with 71% of all European respondents seeing VET as a positive image in their country. However, a fifth of all the EU respondents believe that VET does not offer good career opportunities, and this is the main area which the EU initiative must improve by 2020.

To read all the statistics, please
.

ATTEMPT is a project co-funded by the EU under the Daphne III Programme (DG Justice). It is coordinated by COOSS Marche (IT), in partnership with the University of Urbino (IT), Baobab (ES), CEFERH (FR), TP-Theatre (SE) and the Y.E.S. Forum. ATTEMPT intends to experiment innovative communication practices between parents and primary school teachers (working with 12-14 years aged students), to help them to develop coping and empowering strategies allowing them to better face bullying situations and effectively support their children/students.
The focus of the 2nd partner meeting was to exchange knowledge of possible attractive techniques partners are experienced in. In this regard, the Swedish partner TP-Teatern organised a life demonstration of the Interactive Form Theatre (IFT) method, to show the project partners how it works.

The European Commission has proposed the new programme to succeed the current funding programmes in the area of education, training and youth from 2014. This is published as a part of the proposal for the new Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for the EU for 2014-2020. The Commission proposes a new integrated programme, named 'Education Europe', which will bring together the current programmes in the area of education and youth, including the Lifelong Learning Programme, Erasmus Mundus and Tempus, and the Youth in Action Programme. The proposed budget allocation for the programme is EUR 15.2 billion.
Among its priorities, the programme will focus on trans-national learning mobility, cultivate collaboration between education institutions and the work environment and will grant policy support to gather evidence on the effectiveness of education investments.
However, the Commission did not outline details about the breakdown of the budget. So it is quite open what impact this new integrated programme might have on the EU Youth strategy 2010-2018 and how it touches the European cooperation in youth work.

At the beginning of this year, the YES Forum has contributed to the EU project 'LS6 language learning and social media', submitting a questionnaire on the use of social media in language learning to partner organisations in 6 different EU countries. The feedback exceeded every expectation: a total of about 260 questionnaires were the basis for the scientific analysis of the questionnaires, which was carried out by the University of Barcelona. At the beginning of August 2011, the research team has published its
.

This year, the city of Manchester was the destination of all Y.E.S. Forum member organisations in order to gather for the Y.E.S. Forum Study Visit and the annual General Assembly. The Y.E.S. member Barnardo's, who hosted these events, made these days become a success for all participants. The Study Visit's topic, once again, was linked to a wider frame: the EU Year of Volunteering. Interesting projects have been visited, project workers presented their work and then invited the participants to analyse and discuss these experiences from their own point of view. These visits led up to a position paper on volunteering that was adopted by the Y.E.S. Members’ Assembly as the result of the Study Visit.
