LS6 - language learning and social media

02.08.2012

Between January and June 2012, we launched a competition aimed at documenting how language learners in the Web 2.0 era use social media for language learning in daily life outside formal teaching contexts. A total of 38 interview videos were entered for this competition. The number of videos was initially narrowed down to 10 finalists, based on the votes of the Jury and the ‘Like’ votes on our Vimeo channel.

The jury has finally chosen a winner and we are proud to announce that our winning interviewee is Claire Apostolidou. Claire is 30 years old and she comes from Xanthi, Greece. Visit here if you would like to listen to her interview. The videos uploaded on the channel demonstrate a variety of usages of social media and a broad interest in independent learning of languages. If you want to watch all 38 interviews, you can find them on our competition’s Vimeo channel! All videos are in English or have English subtitles.

Our congratulations to the winner and sincere thanks to all the interviewees, interviewers and the jury panel.
